TeachSpeak - Teacher Development Program

Our courses offer flexible learning options, including intensive and combination courses. We focus on teenagers and adults, the most common age groups native speaking ESL teachers will teach, although we also include optional electives, including how to teach young learners and business English. The courses offer more observed teaching hours, and also focus on exam preparation, a topic rarely covered sufficiently in other certificate providers. We also cover more theory, leaving our student teachers thoroughly prepared for teaching in their own classroom.

Teaching techniques
Teacher’s and learner’s language in the classroom
Classroom management
A foreign language experience
Development of materials

We also have a number of pre course activities that student teachers must complete to ensure teachers are well prepared for the training sessions.

Xanthi 046 Teachspeak Greece not only offers quality courses, but also a unique cultural experience in beautiful Northern Greece. Our school is located in Xanthi, a vibrant university city surrounded by mountains, and only 20 minutes from the coast. Stunning Thasos Island is only a short car trip away. Xanthi has everything that students could need, including a fascinating old town, and some very famous Greek sweet shops! We give our students the chance to experience the culture and natural beauty of the local area, with excursions on weekends. For those who are particularly adventurous we can even organize some Greek dancing practice.

Our instructors are high quality, as well as being friendly and approachable, with a passion for training teachers. They have international qualifications, and years of experience in Greece and abroad. They use up to date teaching methods, and advocate continuous professional development and growth. They also offer a unique opportunity to experience language instruction from the 'other side'. Many people who have not learned a language have no idea of the difficulties facing learners, so we offer Greek language lessons to all our student teachers. This way, they can experience the activities, the fun and the frustration, and ultimately come out with a better understanding of their students. In addition to all this, Greece has a huge number of private language schools, and we can act as an agent to find jobs both here, and abroad, practically guaranteeing our graduates a job. They may even end up working on one of our Greenspeak camps!

Our Student teachers come from many different countries, and all races and religions are very welcome. We make sure our courses provide a very personalized experience and so we only have small groups, enabling teachers to develop their own individual teaching style. We encourage students to remain in contact with each other and with our overall program, providing new teachers with a peer support network, and our website and blogs provide plenty of free resources and information on the newest and best teaching methodologies.
