How would my children get to the Kidzspeak camps?

For Kidzspeak camps wiht more than 10 people departing from your location, there will be a pick-up service provided by Greenspeak. Greenspeak representatives will meet you and your children at the designated airports 2 and a 1/2 hours before the flight (we will provide a map of the meeting point at your airport). Greenspeak representatives will confirm the handover of your children from the airport and provide you with information about themselves and emergency contact details. Greenspeak representativse will help check your children onto and board their flights, and escort them until they arrive at the destination airport.

If you live in a place where less than 10 other participants will depart from, you may choose to travel to larger cities where there are more students, or you may choose to use the Unaccompanied Minors program offered by most airlines. In most cases, airlines offer this service for free but sometimes for a small fee. You need to contact them as soon as you have confirmed your flight (the earlier the better) and request that your child be picked up by the airline staff. Please also inform Greenspeak staff which flight they are on. They are then accompanied by the airline staff to the destination and through customs once they arrive have reached their destination city. Greenspeak staff will be waiting for your children at the airport and safely bring them to the camp location.

What should an attendee bring?

Each particular camp or tour has a detailed list of what the attendee should bring and recommendations of things that are not suitable, as well as items which specifically should not be brought with them that will be confiscated if found and returned at the end of the camp or tour. In general attendees should bring sufficient clothes for at least 7 days as laundry facilities are not available every day. Clothing should be suitable to build up as layers (tshirts, sweat-shirts, Parka) as even in summer venues can still get cold and wet. Both long and short sleeves are important as in summer it is sometimes necessary to protect from sunburn. Duplicates of everything is recommended – so two pairs of swimmers – as sometimes things are wet or in the wash or mislaid. All clothes should be marked with the attendees name. Laundry marker pens can be purchased easily and it saves considerable effort in returning lost clothing.

Please click HERE to see further information regarding each of our camps and tours.

As a general rule we will provide most consumables that an attendee may use. So we will have; sunscreen, insect repellant, soap, shampoo and toothpaste. If attendees have personal requirements for specific products then they should bring them with them, however we cannot guarantee that if lost or needing to be replaced that the same products can be sourced in-country.

We caution attendees bring valuable items with them as we cannot guarantee there safekeeping. Of course we will make every effort possible and we have made sure that all attendees are covered by travel insurance however any remedy is limited to the travel insurance.

What level of English should an attendee have?

Our assumption is that all attendees have reached a level of English that they understand simple verbal instructions, that they have a reasonable English vocabulary and can read simple documents. Although we will have access to Korean, Japanese and Mandarin speakers our teachers do not necessarily speak these languages.

How do I contact and attendee when at a camp or tour?

We have a 24 hour hotline that will be answered at all times. Staff will then be able to arrange contact as soon as practicable. All teachers and supervisors managing the events have mobile phones and can be contacted by our offices. Hotline and other contact information will be made available as part of the welcome pack.

At the events we make available to the attendees internet and email access on a regular basis, firstly this is used as a teaching aid and secondly we want to make sure that attendees can contact loved ones and provide them with regular updates on what they are doing.

For non-urgent contact we recommend using email as the best method.

What happens if I have to cancel attendance?

We understand that sometimes issues arise and that means plans have to be changed. We have a cancellation policy that specifies how we handle this in detail and this is in our Terms and Conditions which can be found HERE. However simply put we will refund all booking fees paid less a U$250 administration fee up to 30 days before the start of the camp. If it is less than 30 days we will also refund the amount (less the U$250) if we have other attendees waitlisted or we can manage to fill the vacant slot. We will make our best efforts to fill the vacancy, but I am sure you understand we can’t make any guarantees. At the time of cancellation we will advise you of the likelihood of finding someone to take the vacancy.

What happens if an attendee becomes sick or injured?

We have a detailed events procedures manual that covers all aspect of attendee welfare including the process for managing minor injuries, through more serious accidents and illnesses. All of our staff have current first aid certificates, plus we have an extensive approved first aid kit with the attendees at all times. We also have established relationships with local doctors and healthcare advisors. We have pre-planned escalation procedures and plans that include, if necessary, evacuation to “first rate” hospitals or health care facilities. We also have a procedure to make sure that parents or next of kin are advised of the situation at the first possible opportunity.

How do attendees get to and from camps/tours?

For Kidspeak and Gradspeak we will be providing supervisors on specific nominated flights to accompany attendees. There will be one flight nominated for each nominated Capital City. We will have a ratio of at least 1 staff member on the flights for every 15 attendees. If it is necessary for attendees to travel by other flights we will work directly with the parents to review alternatives. We recommend that for children under the age of 15 that you look into the Unaccompanied Child program offered by your preferred airline. We will have staff at the airport of arrival to meet all Kidzspeak and Gradspeak attendees.

Attendees for the Bizspeak program will make their own way to the destination country where they will be met upon arrival.

How do referrals work?

When you register for a camp or tour you will be provided with a referral number. If you get others to enter this referral number when they register then it will count towards your referrals. If you get two referrals registered you will get a rebate of 5% on your booking. If you get three referrals registered you will get 10% rebate. Five referrals will give you 15% rebate. Referral rebates will be paid to you on the commencement date of the relevant camp or tour.

Are there discounts for multiple bookings?

Yes, if you book two or more camps or tours, or book two or more attendees on any camp or tour we will give you a 5% discount on the total booking charges.

Are there discounts on paying the full amount at time of booking?

Yes if you pay the full amount of the camp at the time of booking you receive a 5% discount.

What kinds of accommodation will attendees be staying in?

For Kidspeak we have selected accommodation that provides the best possible camp environment. For the most part they have rooms that sleep 6-8 kids per room, some in standard beds some in bunks. All venues have a separate dining hall as well as a lounge or play area. There are of course extra facilities in many. Where possible they have lots of open ground for playing games etc. Some of course are in the bush. All are fully supervised with multiple staff on site 24 hours a day.

For Gradspeak we have selected accommodation that is more in keeping with older kids. Where possible they have rooms of 2-4 kids per room and in standard beds, although for some specific venues this may not be possible. There are dining facilities and also lounge facilities for grads to relax. Again the camps again have 24 hour staff available on-site although we do provide more personal unsupervised time. Where possible we have selected accommodation that is close to public transport and reasonably located to the local sights.

For Bizspeak, we select a range of hotel accommodation. Where possible this is 3 or 4 star accommodation and pricing is based on twin share, with single occupancy available at a higher rate. The specifics of the accommodation depend very much on the theme of the tour.

Is it requirement that attendees can swim?

No it is not a requirement. We do have beach and water activities where swimming and other water sports are an option. At anytime near water we have higher ratios of staff for supervision for Kidzspeak and Gradspeak. We will have staff with both first aid certificates and life saving certificates in attendance.

However we do need to be advised as part of the registration if the attendee can swim.

Are Visas required and if so how do I get one?

In general all attendees will require valid passports and visas to attend events.

Sites for obtaining visas for all of our countries are as follows:

Australia: http://www.immi.gov.au/

Canada: http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/visit/index.asp
